About Me
Akilah is a highly esteemed recording artist, actress, performer and music educator from Brooklyn, NY. She is a graduate of the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance. Akilah has performed for many distinguished individuals including Senator Bernie Sanders, civil rights activist Claudette Colvin, and the honorable Dr. Cornel West under the direction of Grammy Award winning Arturo O'Farrill. Many may recognize her from her rendition of the national anthem that brought down the Barclay's Center and as the featured soloist for 'Heavensward' during the Final Fantasy XVII Distant World's North American Premiere at Carnegie Hall. Akilah Etienne was also on a summer tour with Plaza Theatrical Productions presentation of Sister Act playing the lead role of Deloris and has been nominated for the 2019 Long Island Volunteer Theater Awards for Best Lead Actress. She continues to wow audiences locally and internationally. She's appeared on BRIC Media Arts Television featured on TV shows such as The Real Word & Nocturnal Vibes radio and most recently on national broadcasting stations CNN, Washington Post, NY Times & more as the national anthem singer for Senator Bernie Sanders' kick-off presidential campaign held at Brooklyn College. She consistently delivers with her flawless vocals delivered with grace by a voice that is sweet, powerful, loving, and emotional all at once.
